Bezanson, Darrell Eugene - age 77 of Lake Echo, Nova Scotia, passed away on August 12th, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Darrell grew up in Torbrook, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, the oldest of 3 boys to Lawson and Ella Bezanson. He attended Middleton Regional High School, where he met Cathie. They moved to the city, eventually settling in Lake Echo where they raised their 2 boys. Cathie and Darrell were married for 43 years before her passing in 2021. Darrell worked hard to provide for his family and was with Ocean Contractors ltd. for more than 30 years, running their concrete plant on Kempt Rd for most of that time.

Darrell loved hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, despite the heartbreak that could bring. He enjoyed tying flies, spending lazy days with his faithful companions - Bud and Neville - and was happiest hunting and fishing with his friends.

Darrell met Doris late in his life and her love and companionship carried him through his final years.

Darrell will be missed and remembered by Doris, sons James (Tiffany) and Tony, brothers Ron and Dave (Diana), grandchildren Alexis, Liam and Oliver, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St. Dartmouth on August 25th at 2pm, with internment to take place at a later date.²

Catherine Mary "Cathie" Bezanson

Age 66 of Lake Echo. It is with immense sadness that we announce that Cathie passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on Thursday, April 1, 2021, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Oak Park, Ill., she was the eldest daughter of the late Linus and Carol (Ableman) Constantine.

With her father in the RCAF, Cathie grew up in small towns all across Canada, eventually settling in Torbrook, Annapolis Co., where she met her husband of 42 years, Darrell. She devoted herself to her children as a loving stay-at-home mom, then worked for the Quill Corporation for more than 20 years, retiring in 2019. She was in her element meeting new people, and her phone calls with clients kept her entertained for years.

Cathie was very generous with her free time, volunteering with the Dartmouth Junior Pipe Band organization, 865 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, and then with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo for more than 20 years. She was a fixture in the props department starting out sewing buttons and repairing costumes, then adding pyrotechnics and other duties. She was so happy to work with performers from around the world, and had a blast setting off explosions on the Scotiabank Centre floor.

Family and friends always came first with Cathie, and she made sure to keep in contact with siblings and her American cousins throughout her life, but it was as a grandmother that she shone the brightest. She showered her grandchildren in love, especially when she had the little girl she'd always dreamed of, and was over the moon when they moved back to Nova Scotia in 2019.

Cathie is survived by her husband, Darrell Bezanson, Lake Echo; sons, James (Tiffany), Kingston, Anthony, Fort Providence; brother, William Constantine, Petawawa, Ont; sisters, Christine Foley, Edmonton; Theresa (Steven Smith), Waterville; grandchildren, Alexis, William, and Oliver Bezanson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by brothers, Michael and John; and sister, Patricia.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a very small private visitation was held, and cremation has taken place. A larger gathering and interment will take place at a later date.²

Bette "Diana" Bezanson
1953 - 2026

Aged 73, of East Preston, formerly of Windsor, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026 in the Infirmary Site, QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Kentville on February 7, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Eunice (McGill) Grandy.

Diana truly enjoyed being married to her lover and best friend, Buzz. Diana and Buzz decided to get married two months after meeting and became partners for life. She knew her greatest accomplishments were her three children and was very proud of the choices they made in their lives. She loved and was very proud of her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were her own. She felt very fortunate to see her many wonderful grandchildren grow up, which Diana attributed to her children being great parents, aunts and uncles.

She worked outside the home off and on, trying her hand at several different jobs. She enjoyed the variety of being a waitress, cashier, accountant, chicken catcher, adult school teacher, draftsman, salesperson, mall manager assistant, call center surveyor and office administrator. She was great at fundraising and won many sales awards selling with two different cosmetic companies and selling Lotto 6/49 tickets with her dad before the lottery was sold in stores. She was also great at convincing potential employers to hire her without qualifications or experience.

She enjoyed watching movies, playing games, doing puzzles and partying with family and friends. She had many close life-long friends, especially Pat Young who was her friend since they were both five years old.

Diana is survived by her husband, David "Buzz"; children, Taylor (Amy), Adriana (Donnie) Oulton and Crystal (Neal) Whitman; grandchildren, Belle (Sytze) Brouwer, Xander, Wolf Whitman, Alicia, Mercedes (Lucas) Pond, Melody, Aurora Whitman, Leah Oulton, Ulrich Whitman, Talitha Whitman and Logan Oulton; great-grandchild, Theodore Brouwer, as well as two more on the way; brother, Kenneth (Betty) Grandy; sister, Donna Bonner; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 14 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth.¹

McGILL, Karen Marie— 56, of Hammonds Plains, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side after a brief battle with her illness. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Robert William McGill and Joyce Marie Duncanson.

Karen had a big variety of interests, including gardening, painting, quilting and spending time at the family cottage. Karen was the source of much laughter, wisdom and sparkle for her family.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Bezanson; daughter, Meghan Bezanson; son, Evan Bezanson; sister, Brenda McGill (Michal Wawrosz), Montreal. She will be missed by her dog Piper.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 7, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. where a memorial service will be held Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m.²
