Ann Elizabeth Bezanson was also known as Elizabeth Ann.2 She was born on 20 October 1819 at Chester, Nova Scotia.1,3 She married Captain Nathan Albert Lockhart on 12 January 1849 at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Nova Scotia. She was 29. He was 29.1,4 Ann Elizabeth Bezanson died on 3 April 1900 at Hyde Park, Massachusetts, at age 80.1,5 According to Reverend Arthur John Lockhart, Ann Elizabeth Bezanson "was born at Chester, Oct. 20, 1819, and when about 28 was married to my father. She survived her husband several years, and died in her 81st year, April 3, 1900, in the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Regina Fogg, of Hyde Park, Mass. My mother had some of the mental characteristics of her father—his sprightliness, his strong sense, his friendliness, his scorn of meanness. She was like him in his activity in a green old age, and in possession of her faculties. She could ride on horseback when a young woman, and was always a good walker. She never seemed to grow old, and was always a person of dignity and of an attractive presence. ... My mother never wholly recovered from that blow [of losing a son who died at sea]."5

Obituary, 13 May 1908:
At Marriott's Cove, Lun. Co., Deacon Joseph Bezanson aged 79 years and five months died rather suddenly on the 3rd of May. He was stricken with paralysis and only lived a few days. He was in his usual place in church on the previous Sabbath and it was a surprise to his many friends to hear of his sudden demise.
He was baptized into the fellowship of the Chester church N.S., on the 29th of April, 1855, by the Rev, Stephen DeBlois, D.D. He was 53 years a faithful member of the Chester church and when he died its senior deacon. His father had served in the same office before him. He was also clerk of the church for several years. In whatever capacity he served was always faithful. And exemplary Christian and pre-eminently a man of peace he will be missed in church and community. The large numbers who attend his funeral attested to the esteem in which he was held. The funeral service was conducted by his pastor the Rev. John Miles.
His widow and two children survive him. J.H. of Sydney, C.B., and Mrs, Hennigar, Chester, N.S.8

Obituary from The Maritime Baptist (Saint John, New Brunswick), 12 April 1916:
Bezanson - There passed to her heavenly home on March 10th, from the residence of her daughter, one of Chester's eldest residents, Mrs. Jessie Bezanson, widow of the late Deacon Joseph Bezanson, at the age of ninety years.
Mrs. Bezanson was born May 30th, 1826 in Fifeshire, Scotland, being the daughter of Henry Wilson and Isabel Strachan. In 1841 her parents, with their seven children, came to Nova Scotia, landing at Pictou, from which they sailed around Cape Breton to Halifax. Eight years later she married Joseph Bezanson and they made their home at Marryott's Cove, Lunenburg County. Her people were Presbyterian and when a girl she became a member of the Presbyterian church. After marrying on April 27, 1861, she was immersed by Rev. J. Skinner, and became a member of the Baptist church of Chester, N.S. She remained until her death a firm believer in Christ and a zealous member of the Chester church, supporting it both with her attendance and money until failing health kept her home. Even then she continued her financial support.
She was the last of her family to depart this life. She leaves to mourn two daughters.
The funeral services were held on March 12th, conducted by Rev. R.F. Allen, burial taking place in the Baptist cemetery, Chester, N.S.1
