Charles G. Jerry Bezanson Sr., 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Davis) and the late Catherine (Burke) Bezanson.

Born in Brickton, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late H. Paul and Florence (Chute) Bezanson. He was raised in Weymouth and attended Weymouth schools. Charles was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He was at the invasion of Normandy and served in battles in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a member of the Whitman VFW Post 697 and the Disabled Veterans. He has been a resident of Whitman since 1960. He loved fishing and sports and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was truly a family man.

He is survived by his children, Charles G. Bezanson Jr. and his wife Linda of Hyannis, Brian J. Bezanson and his wife Elonie of Whitman and Kathleen F. Lynch and her husband Charles of North Falmouth; his stepchildren, Denise Piccini of Nevada, William Pittsley of Rhode Island, Linda Nicholson of Pembroke, Kitty Fitzgibbons of Rockland, Dean Pittsley of California and Eileen Pittsley of Abington; also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David M. Bezanson, stepfather of the late Dennis and Mary Pittsley and brother of the late Ernest, Lewis, Robert and John Bezanson.

His services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Aug. 29, from 4-8 p.m.1

Of Whitman, Oct. 26, John, 72, husband of the late Geraldine (Clifford) Bezanson; father of Diane Edgerly (and her husband Roger) of Halifax, Judith Veazie (and her husband William) and Susan Wilson, all of Whitman, Linda Cross of Brockton and Mary Jane Braley (and her husband Scott) of East Bridgewater; brother of Gerald Bezanson of Whitman and the late Ernest, Louis and Robert Bezanson; companion of Penny Schull of Whitman; also survived by 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m.3

He was 23.1,3 Dorothy Irene MacLeod and Gordon Howard Bezanson lived in Brickton, Nova Scotia.4 Dorothy Irene MacLeod lived at Brickton, Nova Scotia.2 She died on 9 July 1997 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia.2

Born in New Brunswick, she was raised by her grandparents, John C. and Christine (Jardine) McLeod. She was an active member of the Canadian Red Cross, an avid gardener and animal lover.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon.

No visitation by request. Graveside service 10 a.m. Sunday in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Rev. Norman Hovland officiating.2
